Contacting Your Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP)

Residents’ Councils may choose to connect with their local Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) to share resident perspectives, raise awareness about issues affecting long-term care, celebrate successes, or seek support on matters that impact residents and their communities.

Councils may invite their MPP to:

• Tour the long-term care home
• Attend a Residents’ Council meeting as a guest
• Participate in a special event, celebration, or fundraiser
• Learn firsthand about resident experiences and priorities

Resident leaders who wish to share their lived experiences, highlight challenges, or discuss opportunities for improvement in long-term care may consider writing to or meeting with their local MPP. Personalized messages are often the most effective and can include:

• Challenges affecting residents, such as staffing, resources, or quality of life concerns
• Success stories that demonstrate resident engagement, empowerment, innovation, and community connection
• Ideas and recommendations for strengthening long-term care
