A Co-Designed Toolkit Inspiring Resident Engagement in Long-Term Care Homes

Developed in collaboration with residents and informed by direct feedback from long-term care home Administrators, this research-informed resource supports meaningful resident engagement in home operations and decision-making. Designed to meet homes wherever they are on their quality improvement and culture change journey, the toolkit offers practical tips, tools, and guides that help strengthen partnerships between residents and leadership. By building confidence, collaboration, and shared ownership, it helps create a more inclusive, resident-centred culture and a home environment that benefits everyone.

Through Our Eyes: Bringing the Residents’ Bill of Rights Alive

This unique education program provides a roadmap for long-term care home team members and residents to work together to explore and bring the Residents’ Bill of Rights to life. Through practical tools, activities, and conversation guides, the program encourages shared learning and strengthens understanding of residents’ rights. By placing resident voices and lived experiences at the centre of education, it makes learning more person-centred and memorable, helping to build a culture where residents feel heard, valued, and respected.
