OARC’s provincial resident advisory group
Residents living in long-term care (LTC) homes are at the heart of everything we do.
The REAL group is comprised of members who are Resident Leaders living in long-term care (LTC) homes located across the province of Ontario. Members of the REAL group bring a diverse combination of strengths, experiences and perspectives to advise, inspire, and inform the work of OARC. Through various forms of engagement, REAL members help to give voice to issues of importance to residents within the LTC sector and broader community.
REAL group accomplishments
- Co-designed OARC’s Resident Engagement Toolkit
- Contributed to the hiring of OARC’s expanded team, including four new Education and Home Support Coaches and Communications Coordinator
- Actively contributing to national and provincial research projects and advisory groups on topics including immunization in long-term care; fracture prevention and diabetes management
- Engaged in OARC’s food advocacy efforts
